For a full or queen size bed you can use a 5 8 6 9 or 8 10 rug beneath the bed placed longways depending on how much floor space you want covered.
Rug placement under full size bed.
Bedroom rug placement should offer plenty of leeway along the sides of the bed at least 24 36 as we see with the above.
Instead of a larger underfoot coverage by the bed area the rug extends to cover the sitting area uniting the two functions of the bedroom lounging and sleeping.
Here are some of my guidelines for determining the right size rug for the bedroom as well as placement.
You can go bigger but these numbers should be the minimums you want to look for.
If you need to go with a slightly smaller rug it should cover at least the area under the bed and give you a good 6 12 at the foot more if you have a bench or chest at the foot of your bed.
If the room is large the rug should extend even further out from the bed but it should never extend out less.
For full sized and larger beds be sure to use a rug that fits easily underneath the bottom two thirds of the bed.
8 x 10 or 9 x 12 queen size bed follow the same general suggestions with larger rugs and a queen size bed.
The general rule for placement of rugs under beds is that a rug should extend 12 to 18 inches from the sides and foot of the bed 12 inches for a twin or full bed and 18 inches for a queen or king bed.
Depending upon the size of the room there can be more rug extension around the bed as seen in this room by lauren nelson design but not less which would make the rug look insignificant being covered mostly by the bed.
When it comes to the bedroom sizing really depends on the size of your bed.
Place the rug perpendicular under the bed with enough of the rug reaching out on the sides and in front to place your feet comfortably when getting out of bed or sitting at the foot.
Turning the rug the other way was not an option.
5 x 8 full size bed this rug works best when placed horizontally under the bottom two thirds of a full sized bed the rug exposed in front and on both sides.
For an area rug to look balanced under a bed it should be large enough to extend beyond the sides of the bed at least 18 inches for a king or queen bed and at least 12 inches for a full or twin bed.
Ideally the rug should be large enough to extend beyond the sides of the bed at least 12 inches for a twin or double bed and at least 18 inches for a queen or king.
This placement allows adequate space for your nightstands.
A 4 foot by 6 foot or a 5 foot by 8 foot area rug fits the bottom two thirds of the bed only.
Do cover high traffic areas.
The bird s eye view of the full size bed placed on the 8 x 10 area rug reflects ample space left for nightstands or a bedside lamp.
This beautiful and feminine bedroom boasts a very pretty area rug with a one directional pattern.
